Sold event still showing as upcoming

I’ve had a search on the forums and I can’t find a post that covers this. Everyone seems to have the opposite problem.

We’ve got a couple of sold-out event that are still showing as upcoming.

Both have sold out – all registrations are completed. I’ve updated the events, but they still show as Upcoming.

Not seen this before.

On further investigation the Tooltip that appears on the calendar correctly shows “Sold Out” but the status on the Event page (and in the admin backend) is still “Upcoming”.

Can you take a screenshot of the ticket editor (including the datetimes) and post it here please?

It looks like ticket sales have ended but there are still spaces on ‘valid’ datetimes for the future.

No dice I’m afraid… no spaces on any datetimes.

Hi there,

Right now the Datetime limit fields are blank, which actually means “unlimited”. So you can set the Datetime limit for each of the date times to 4, then update the events and the events will get switched to sold out.

That doesn’t seem to have solved the issue.
Yes the datetimes are blank, but the tickets are limited.


I’ve now done what you suggested for this event – – but it still shows as Upcoming.

I’ve just double-checked. On all of the SOLD OUT events, there is no limit to the datetimes – the limit is only on the number of available tickets.

My suggestion still stands. Your events will show as upcoming if they haven’t occurred yet. So for example this one:

It says, “we’re sorry, but all ticket sales have ended”. Which is probably what you want it to say if you’ve set the ticket sale end dates to end before today.

When you go to set up events you need to set the date time registration limits, please do not leave those fields blank. When you set the date time registration limits, it will automatically set the ticket limits for you. Which will actually reduce the amount of work for you when you set up events.
