Unfortunately there will be no way around having *very* long titles for some events; on the page (shortcode) version it’s fine, but in the small widget area it breaks the table and just looks terrible.
Is there a way to have a widget only marker of any sort (or different colored td) to indicate that there is an event on that day and then when it is clicked goes to the event? Something that doesn’t effect the page short coded version?
Can you post a link to the page that has your calendar widget? The reason I ask is because normally, the calendar widget shouldn’t be displaying titles.
It should be displaying a small box with a flag, then optionally a tooltip that displays on hover. Here’s an example to show what it should look like:
If it doesn’t look like this, then there may be some CSS from the theme or another plugin that’s overriding the styles from the calendar plugin, and we can help you find them if we can take a look.
Hmm, that is most definitely not what we were seeing. Since the site is going live we had to switch to an event list view. It was just as small but with really long titles breaking the height.
Since the site is at the end of development I can’t go back to a broken widget, so thanks for your response. I’ll just assume that something was conflicting with it; we do have a lot of plugins.
