Can espresso show the people’s pictures/link to their profile who RSVP’d for an event? Using wordpress and espresso, is it possible:

** For someone to RSVP, and they dont have a profile yet but it will show a default avatar

** For those who have the account they login and RSVP, they have changed their profile picture and it will appear next to the event?

** So basically someone can RSVP and it can say “have an account? login and rsvp” .. “or enter your details below”

** Is there a way to show the total number of people who are going, and can there be a field so the admin can put that number their themselves?

Thanks

Hello Ryan,

EE doesnt offer an RSVP system, users would need to register for the event (free or paid).

The avatar system can be made with one of our shortcodes [LISTATTENDEES show_gravatar=”true”], and this would show an image based on the users gravatar. Because it uses WordPress’ own gravatar system, you could add code to replace the default avatar.

This does not require the user to be logged in at all, but they must have a gravatar account for their own image.

An attendee count can be obtain with the shortcode [ATTENDEE_NUMBERS] and if the event manager wishes to manually add a figure instead this can be obtained by using one of the custom meta fields in the event, alongside the shortcode to display it.

There may be some template changes that need doing to accommodate what you want but it should be minimal based on what you have said.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hmm, I see. So actually, when a person registers for an event, they’re not created as a wordpress user but it uses their https://en.gravatar.com/ account for the picture, which wordpress would use as well if they registered. This is correct?

If I wanted them to register and create a WP account at the same time, is this an option? The idea is to get them to sign up to WP and not Gravatar as the users in this case are not familiar with yet another Avatar system. As the events are frequent, they would need to re-enter their details where as having a account can pre-fill in these values?

Thanks a lot,
Ryan

Hello Ryan,

Yes that is correct, Event Espresso does not require WordPress registration to function, though it can work alongside it. And yes the gravatar is used as it is a WordPress function.

If I wanted them to register and create a WP account at the same time,
is this an option?

Currently there is no option in EE to do that but I cannot see a reason why it could not be custom coded, if you are so inclined/have a developer. It is I believe on our feature request list for possible inclusion in future updates.

As the events are frequent, they would need to re-enter their details
where as having a account can pre-fill in these values?

Using the WP User Integration add on from ourselves would enable the clients to have their details pre-filled for them. It works via the profile page so they need to first fill that in with the appropriate info (custom questions will be listed there as well). Then so long as they are logged in the forms will pre-fill.
