Show next events in plain list

The List Category Posts plugin can display the most recent x posts from y category in a plain HTML unordered list. Can I get it to work with Event Espresso events?

If not, what alternative is there to do this? None of the EE4 shortcodes are quite what I want.

This one will work with Event Espresso events:
