shortcode not working following plugin update

As the Topic Title states, we’ve updated the plugin and now the pages that used the shortcode display the shortcode as plain text. I’ve poked around and looked for old theme files, as one topic suggested, but there are none in the /templates folder.

for clarification’s sake, I am attempting to use the shortcode: [EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY event_category_id=”conferences”]
on a page which is NOT one of the preselected pages in the config.

Disabling and re-enabling all of our plugins did the trick. Something was hung up somewhere else.
