Turns out that the URL I needed to work was https://www.paws-itiveexperience.com/registration-checkout/?event_cart=view
When I tried https://www.paws-itiveexperience.com/registration-checkout/?event_cart=view#checkout the website was making it say /?event_cart=view/#_checkout
I have no idea why but removing the #checkout seems to have fixed that.

Hi there,
Some themes, plugins or even custom code, hook into the menus (or even the page generation) and change the default WP behaviour to be more… helpful 🙂
The default behaviour for the links above would be to not break an anchor tag (the #something part) but something on your site is changing the link behaviour to break those which is why you needed the workaround above.
The #checkout part just tells your browser to go to a specific element on the page, so your workaround is fine, I just wanted to add some additional details as to the likely reason you needed to do the above 🙂
