Hi,
Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso.
1) RSS – not currently. In the next major version 4.X we will be moving towards a true Custom Post type for events, so RSS will be available from then via WordPress.
2) Future content. Again as per number 1, as they are not true custom post types (yet) scheduling cannot currently occur.
3) Venues. Yes you can have a Google map appear in the event showing the location of the venue. We have shortcodes for that.
4) Price – well yes and no. We have a plugin called WP User Integration which will allow you to discount the price for logged in users (members). However its quite simple in that it only discounts logged in members, it doesn’t account for role.

A quick followup:
1) and 2) is there an ETA for the next major version?
4) I don’t mind getting my hands dirty, so I guess I can code something to allow this behaviour. But, is there a way to do it gracefully, e.g. with hooks, so I don’t have to change the module code so I can update it easily?

Hey,
No problem.
1/2) As soon as we can! No definite date but we are working our hardest to get the base plugin for 4.X out asap. It wont have plugins to begin with but the core plugin itself will have tons of new features.
4) Well that’s good! We do have a beta plugin that enables you to change the role level that will get the discount (eg if you have subscribers and members, you may not want subscribers to get discounts). This works with S2Member only. I didnt mention it earlier as it didnt meet your needs, but it might be a starting point for a custom plugin.
We have a fair number of hooks and filters, but once more with 4.X we are adding more and more as we want it to be very extensible.
We also have the Custom Files addon, that is used, oddly enough, for adding in custom functions and files. I would recommend using this for customisation work as it keeps the files completely separate to core. You still might have to change core files though, it depends on what needs doing. For example the S2Member plugin requires a beta version of the WP User integration add on as some of those files were modified.

Also, I almost forgot… I’ve seen in your forums that oter payment gateways can be developed. You pointed to a url to view the details for this feature (https://eventespresso.com/rich-features/multiple-pricing-options/custom-payment-gateway-development/), but it’s broken (404 error). Is there a way to see it?
