Hi guys! I’m looking to purchase the plugin, I’m using another events manager plugin right now but it’s not working as I wish, so I’m looking for another solution. I’m running a shows ‘agenda’ in my city and bookings, so is kind of a complex scenario.

Here are my questions. Sorry if I’m asking a dumb one, and sorry for my poor english.

1) Is there an option to make recurrencies on different hours? Let’s say I have a show on Thursday 9pm, Friday 10pm, Saturday 8pm. I know I could do three different events but I need it to be just one event because there are comments and reviews for each one, so I need it to be only one event.

2) Is there a way to program after-midnight shows and not be confusing? I need that Friday 1am shows appear on Thursday shows listing. I don’t know if I’m clear with this.

3) Is there an option to just make bookings? I mean, not to sell tickets. In my scenario, bookings are paid at theatre’s box office the same day of the show, half an hour before it begins. So I need bookings to be automatically confirmed, as show producers doesn’t have to login and confirm each one. Which leads to…

4) Is there an option to have an ‘author’ for each event? (a responsible user with registered email).

5) Is there an option that each time a person books tickets, event ‘author’ receives an email with visitors details? It would be nice to receive a copy of that mail, too.

5) I need visitors that books tickets for a show not to be ‘confirmed’ by each show author, but to be ‘automatically’ confirmed (as if they were free tickets). Is there an option to override any payment method and use the plugin just for bookings, but with the total ammount of money they should pay at the theatre?

6) Is there a widget for “today events”?

Thanks a lot for your time and patience. 😀

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso (EE).

First off, we have two versions: EE3 and EE4.

Please see here https://eventespresso.com/2014/02/event-espresso-4-beta-officially-released/ for a discussion on the differences between the two, as they are currently quite different.

From the sounds of it, you would likely be more interested in EE3. We don’t have a demo site for EE3, but we do have one for EE4 (demoee.org)

1) We have the recurring event manager, which basically allows you to duplicate an event over a period of time easily. One thing it cannot do is set different times. You could however edit the events after creation and modify the times accordingly.

Each event will be treated as a separate event.

There is a way to link events though. Say you had an event over 5 weeks, but you only want people to sign up to the first event. You can add a setting to each of the other events which will redirect the user to the first event.

This is useful for split events on the calendar.

2) If the event starts on Thursday it will be listed on Thursday. If it starts on Friday (one minute past midnight) it will show on Friday.

The only way around that would be to use categories to group events, though this might not be suitable in all situations.

3) Not out of the box. Events are either free or paid and require registration. However, some users have modified (with code) one of the offline gateways such as Cheque or Invoice to be a kind of pay at the door gateway. This will finalise the registration but mark them as unpaid.

4) The Roles and Permissions (Basic and Pro) plugins allow different users to have specific roles in respect to Event Espresso. So for example, an Event Manager can only see events and attendees that they have created. Regional Managers can only see events and attendees which have been assigned (via venue) to their locale.

Generally these roles should only be given to trusted sources, NOT the general public.

5) Yes, but it’s not automatic. When an event is created there is an option for an alternative contact email. If you add the site admin (important!) email and the author email separated by a comma, both people will be notified of registrations.

6) We have an upcoming events widget, so not specifically for just today’s events.

If you have any more questions or need clarification, please just let me know.

Hi Dean! Thanks for your explanation and time.

I need some clarification at the first item. When you say

“Each event will be treated as a separate event”

You are talking about EE3, right? As I see the link you gave me, in EE4, there are multiple dates/times for each event. So I can have an event with, let’s say, Thursday 10 pm, Thursday 11.30 pm and Friday 9 pm dates, right? And in EE4 it’s just one event with multiple datetimes (3 in my example). Am I right?

And if I’m right: can people choose which date/time to book? I assume they can, but I’m asking anyway.

Can these things be set on the demo site?

Thanks a lot

Hi Pablo,

Yes. You are correct. You can set up multiple datetimes in a single event. In order for people to choose which datetime they want to book, you will need to add separate tickets for each datetime. It will look something like this: http://eetesting.info/jon_ee4/events/tomelevage-golf-classic/
