Hi, I’m not a developer so I need to double check this:

I have set up a Business account with Paypal and set the IPN notifications to point to the page on my site that holds the TXN shortcode. Right so far?

So all I need to do to start receiving payments is by entering my Paypal ID(I assume this is the username of my Business account) under Paypal Settings? Do I need to do anything about the Button?

Lastly, is there anyway I can check if all these are working? Feels a little uneasy to launch it without testing it.

Please reply asap, thanks!

Correct

It is normally your paypal email address

Do I need to do anything about the Button?

Generally, no, unless you want something custom.

Yes but it can be a little involved. Basically you need to set up a Sandbox account with PayPal https://developer.paypal.com/ and use those details instead of your own, and make sure the “Use the Debugging Feature and the PayPal Sandbox” setting is ticked in the Event Espresso > Payment settings > PayPal options area.

What this does is fake payments, so nothing is actually charged and you can test that it works correctly.

Make sure you change the payment details back to the real ones before going live!

Hi,
I’ve tried the sandbox and followed everything on the tutorial page. The IPN was sent successfully but the transaction does not appear to have gone through as the event was not updated and the amount wasn’t paid. I’ve checked that the Transaction page is public and ensured that the Test account was a business account.

I’ve read throughout the forums that I should check the “logs” on whether or no the transaction went through but like I said, I’m not a developer(a student running my final year campaign for a client) so I have no idea how I can do that.

This is my website: http://carnival.riseandshine-expo.com/event-registration/ Its a WordPress site btw.

Please advise.

Hi Wayne,

Sometimes it takes PayPal a little while to report back that the transaction was successful. Is the registration still not complete? Was the transaction completed with PayPal (your sandbox account)?

Hi Garth, yes the payment is still not completed.

Hi Wayne,

Can you post a link to the transactions page?

Hi Josh,

Seems like Sandbox wasn’t working. We’re accepting actual transactions from the public now and its going smoothly. Thanks!
