Whilst its possible to change the default output for the event archive (/events/) to a calendar you would need to create a custom template for your theme to do so as its not actually a page but an archive of EE event posts.
The easiest method to display the Calendar on /events/ would be to change the EE slug to something other than ‘events’ and then use a standard page with the [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR] shortcode in its place.
So lets say you changed the EE slug to ‘registration’
To do that you go to Event Espresso -> Events -> Templates
Look for ‘Event Slug’ and change that to ‘registration’.
You will likely need to flush your permalinks.
Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.
Make no changes and just save the settings.
/registration/ would now look exactly as your current /events/ output does but now you can create an ‘events’ page and display the calendar there.
