Set an event as "mandatory"

What I’m trying to accomplish is having a certain event set as mandatory when I have a cart feature running. So, for instance, there is 1 price for all to attend camp as general registration. Right now, if they don’t add general registration to their cart, we have to go back and follow up with them.

I also want them to just be able to have a waiver they check once. I have the field in a group but it’s including it on every event and I just want a once-for-all option.

Any insight how to go about these 2?

Hello,

I don’t think these can be setup without some custom coding but I do have a couple ideas on how to get close:

Have you considered creating a base pricing that includes the general registration & the additional fee for that specific event?

It would look something like this:

registration fee + camp event 1
camp event 1

And for another event:

registration fee + camp event 2
camp event 2

This way your attendees will be able to register and pay for the camp fee at once or pay for only the specific event if they have already paid the camp fee.

For the waiver, I would use a checkbox question that is part of a question group and set it to required:

Yes, I accept the terms and conditions for attending camp.

Thanks Lorenzo. I actually have the waiver set up already as you have it, but in order for it to work the waiver has to be on each even which is a bit annoying. And because there are so many events within the summer camp it would be a pretty bad user experience to have multiple for each just for the base price, though I did think that was an option as well.

Maybe more of what I’m trying to do is have a “cart” feature where I could attach some add-on pricing and fields to that step of the checkout…though I’m assuming that would be custom.

Any other ideas/thoughts? Or direction as to how to maybe get that custom functionality done?

Hi,

Currently we don’t have any way to set a required event. It could be possible with custom coding, as the above options don’t seem suitable to your use case.

I would recommend getting in touch with a developer, we have a list of recommended ones here: https://eventespresso.com/developers/event-espresso-pros/
