Is there a way to set a country and its states at the top of the country and state dropdowns by default? If not, will you be offering that or updating EE where if someone picks a country then only the states in that country are shown in the state dropdown? People from many countries can participate in our online programs but we primarily serve people in the US. Unfortunately our registrants have to scroll past all of the states of other countries before they get to the US states.

Hi there,

It looks like you are using a custom question for both Country and State on the registration form, may I ask why you aren’t using the default system questions for those details?

The reason I ask is the system question Country and State dropdowns are linked, selecting a county within that dropdown shows only states for that country in the state dropdown.

Thanks for getting back to me. I created the custom addresses because I wanted all the questions in the Personal Group which is selected by default when creating an event. I was concerned that staff might forget to click on the Address Group when creating events and didn’t want to miss gathering that information. See screen shot: https://snipboard.io/Abho1X.jpg

I didn’t see a way for both the Personal Group and Address Group to be selected by default when creating an event. Is there a way to do that?

Not through EE itself although you can add a snippet to the site that will check them off.

For example, this snippet: https://gist.github.com/Pebblo/8f7331ef2e418ab1bd0e26716e1eb1d0

That checks all of the questions available on the primary registrant, does that work for you?

You can add that to a custom functions plugin and we have some documentation on creating one here:

Thanks for this information. I will look into it. I’m already using a child theme for some other changes to EE and assume that I can add a new custom .php file to it and when the plugin or my theme updates that file will continue to work, correct?

Are you planning to add a feature that allows users to make all registration groups selected by default when adding new events?

Yes, that’s correct.

Not currently, we’ve had a couple of requests for it previously but we are currently working on a few features with many more than the above (Recurring event being the main one).

I can’t say we won’t do something in the future but at this current time we don’t have plans for it.
