I know there’s a way to have people select which session(s) they want to attend during a conference by using dropdown questions, but — is there any better way to do this? Specifically, a way to do it that would allow you to set capacity limits for each session?
The only way I’m familiar with setting session limits would be to create each session as a separate event, then use the Multiple Event Registration addon (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-multiple/) so people can register for multiple sessions at one time.
It does make sense, but I’m using the test drive and can’t figure out how to do the multiple event registration. Do I just literally create an event in the event overview section for each of the sessions, and then when people are registering, put text on the page that tells them to register for each session they will be attending? Is there a demo page you can point me to that already has this set up so I can see how it works on the user side?
There is a shortcode that you can use to place the session options on a page, or even within one event. In this case, you’d likely want to disable the registration form in you place the shortcodes within the event description.
The shortcode you can use is [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] shortcode. Here is an example of how you can use this for sessions:
[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”1″ anchor=”Register for session 1″]
[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”2″ anchor=”Register for session 2″]
[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”3″ anchor=”Register for session 3″]
If you are logged into the test drive site, please feel free to open that event in the editor and play with how that is set up.
