We want to check our attendees in via the mobile app on each morning of a two day event. At this stage I have only set one event date spanning both days but I am now realising that this won’t allow us to check people in on day 2 as they will already be checked in on day 1. I could of course check them out in bulk via the web backend. But I am wondering if I can separate out the one 2-day event date into two separate events dates and assign tickets across both event dates? Bear in mind that we have already sold hundreds of tickets to this event and so don’t want to disrupt our booking data. Your thoughts appreciated./ |

Hi there, Yes, you can; you just need to add an additional datetime for the second day, set up the original for the first day (change the start/end date of the original datetime to be for the first day) and assign the ticket(s) for the original sales to that DateTime. Its expected that an event will change date, add dates, times etc so this is normal and EE allows for it, the one thing you “can’t” do is change the ticket price…. technically you can, but becuase people have registered onto it it will archive the original ticket and create a new copy with the new price (you said you didn’t want to disrupt the original date so just mentioned this here). So when editing just be careful you don’t change the ticket price and this should work fine. — If you want to, at this point, create a quick database back just to be safe. Then edit your event and click the stacked icon next to your ‘first’ datetime: https://monosnap.com/file/mMZsHywfWPUvDorBwbmZqRmP2uBane Do copy datetime. EE will create a copy of your current datetime. https://monosnap.com/file/sBRJaO7ZQXMbT0mW6ujLhOXhzQLbbn On your first datetime click the calendar icon and set the correct date/time: Repeat for the second. Update the event. Now in the ticket section, click the Date assignment icon, (looks like a calender month view): Make sure your ticket is assigned to both datetimes: https://monosnap.com/file/rm1GgtClFWwTC5k9AOVeGAWbHmyAFE Save. Your ticket is now assigned to both and the app can be used to check in/out for both of those. Is that what you are looking for? |

Hi Tony Thanks very much for your help. I will go through these steps now. One more question — will I need to re-issue tickets to our existing registrants? Or will the tickets (with QR code) that have been already sent out to them allow them to check in on each of the two days? Again, I appreciate your prompt and detailed assistance. |
|
Nope, no re-issuing needed as long as the current ticket they have registered onto is assigned to both datetimes using the above. |

Sorry, I meant we’ve already sent out tickets prior to me separating the one event date (spanning two days) into two separate events dates (one day each). |

Yeah I follow, same applies 🙂 The ticket itself isn’t changing, the registration itself isn’t changing, both of those are what make up the details for the QR. The only thing that is changing here is the datetime assignment on the ticket within the event. So you can use the same QR code to reference the ticket within EE, which then relates to whichever datetimes it’s assigned to. |

That’s great, thanks so much for your help. |

You’re most welcome. Any further questions just let me know. |
