Send Invoice Reminder not available

Hello,

Following this conversation recently:
https://eventespresso.com/topic/paypal-link-on-invoice/

There were a few registrants that needed to add add-on items after registration. The items were manually added and reflect as a remaining balance. The button for the option to Send Payment Reminder is not there. How can we get a Paypal payment to these attendees?

Here is a screencap where showing the balance and the missing button.

Thanks!

Hi there,

The transaction status is ‘Complete’, EE wont show a payment reminder for a transaction that is complete.

What are the steps I need to do to repeat the above?

I’m assuming add a registration on a paid ticket and don’t add a price modifier option to it, complete payment then edit the registration and select a price modifier?

Have you tried clicking the ‘Recalculate Taxes and Total’ button?

Clicking Recalculate taxes and total worked. Thank you so much!

Once the user clicks the link to pay the left over balance for the add in, the balance was not displayed. The only thing that shows is for them to pay the full registration fee again.

Apologies, I mixed up my replies with the previous one! (I’ve now removed it)

Do you have a test registration I can view this on?

So they see the payment options step?

If so, when they click through to the payment provider (PayPal) does it show the full or partial amount?

Or can you provide the steps needed to reproduce the above setup so I can try and reproduce locally?

This is the email that is received by the attendee

When I click the Retry your payment link it leads me to this blank page.

The payment option does not lead to Paypal.

Ok, what do I need to do to a registration to reproduce this locally, what steps do I need?

Register onto an event with price modifiers but don’t select them.
Pay the amount due.
Edit the registration through the admin? Front end? Include some price modifieres and update.
Trigger payment email and click the link.

Is that everything?

Yes. I believe this will help the attendee to pay the remaining add on balance for the event with the email link to Paypal.

Ok, I still can’t reproduce this.

The version of the Pricing Add-on I have does not update the transaction and add additional line items if I go in and edit the price modifier questions on the front end after completing a registration.

If you can provide in-depth details on what exactly I need to do to reproduce this I’ll take another look.

I can send the most recent version of the plugin to you if that would help.

Sure, you’ll need to host the zip somewhere (Dropbox, WeSendIt, your own site) and just include the link in a private reply so I can download it.

I am using the price modifier plugin because the client needed registrants to be able to purchase other events along with their regular registration fee. For example, they can sign up and pay for brewery tours, yoga and biking classes while at the conference.

Ok, so they register onto a single EE events and these ‘additional’ events are Price modifier questions, right?

The events were added manually to their registration.

This is the part I need more details one.

How exactly are you manually adding the ‘events’ to their registration?

The balance shows correctly. I followed your instructions to click the Recalculate taxes and total button which gave me the ability to send a reminder email to the registrant.

The button I mentioned basically compares the total with line items and confirms taxes, if there are changes it recalculates the total and switches the transaction status.

Problem is is something else has added line items that aren’t correct then it can break the transaction when loading it into SPCO (Single Page CheckOut). Using that button can’t ‘fix’ broken line items, it can just update the transaction to match them so I need to produce the problem to see what is happening.

When the registrant receives the email, it brings them to a blank Checkout page with no option to use Paypal to pay off their remaining balance for the special add ons.

Yeah I understand the problem on your site, but I can’t reproduce it.

The ‘payment options’ of SPCO isn’t loading and thats where the transaction and it line items come into play. Without seeing the line items I don’t know why it’s not loading.

Me editing registrations without the price modifier (and with the version I have) still allows the payment options step to load. So I need the exact steps you are taking to try and reproduce, not just the latest version but what you are also doing with the registration.

Ok, so they are adding them through the admin registration editor.

I can now reproduce this and the problem is not with the line items, but the registration. As far as SPCO is concerned the registration has been paid for in full, yes there are monies owed on the transaction itself but normally they would be split across the registrations and with the above they are not.

So SPCO checks for monies owed on the Registration checks that the ticket has been paid in full and stops loading the payment options step for that registration.

Right now there is no easy option for you to enable payments with the above set up, as mentioned EE doesn’t support these add-on items and is not expecting additional items that are not spread across the registrations.

The only way you can enable payments on those specific registrations is by updating a value in the Database for each one and that is not something we recommend doing.

Currently, I’m not sure if this is something EE will need to handle differently or its something that that Aparna’s add-on will need to work around (the functionality is from the add-on, so technically it should be the add-on) but I’ve opened a ticket to discuss this with our developers and see if there is a workaround I’m missing.
