Hello, I need to check the compatibility with a particular kind of ticketing. My client is a museum, they need to sell visits/tours that have fixed sits and start at established hours, more in detail:
– there are 2 kind of visits, let me call them visit A and visit B.
– visit A are 4 times per day, visit B twice per day, every day at the same times
– there is a 3rd kind of visit: that is the sum of A+B, but due to the fact that the sits are limited, it is necessary that the system considers and sums, visits at A and the visit at A purchased in the pack A+B, and the same with B. In order to let the purchase process easy it is important to give the possibility to buy A and B together. Maybe is it possible to sell 2 events together, combined?
– visits ongoing all the year, thus we need something that allows us to set that the visits is “every day, at these times, for 200 days” in example. We have seen the repeat feature, but we wonder if there is something more respondent to our needs.
Thank you for
Elisa

Hi,

EE4 might be able to handle this, though A & B would have to be combined into one event.

In EE4 you can set datetimes, so you could create one event per day with 6 datetimes (4 for A and 2 for B).

The create the appropriate tickets. The downside is that you would need 14 tickets in total (4 for A, 2 for B and 8 for the A/B variations).

The tickets AND the datetimes can both be set to have a capacity, so if someone buys Ticket A for Datetime 1, and someone buys Ticket A/B that includes Datetime 1, then the Datetime 1 will be reduced by 2.

Does that make sense?

If you haven’t already, check out our EE4 testdrive over at http://demoee.org, it might help you confirm EE is a good fit for your needs, or not.

Regarding the 200 days, currently in EE4 you would need to create 200 events. EE4 doesn’t yet have a mass creation system, but you can duplicate the events and modify the dates.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello Dean,
thank you for your reply! This helped me to have clear many aspects. Yes I think that the function “combine events” could be a great solution. I don’t know if I completely understood the example you made about tickets:

The create the appropriate tickets. The downside is that you would need 14 tickets in total (4 for A, 2 for B and 8 for the A/B variations).

I have established seats on visit tours:
– tour A1 10.30-12.30 am (20 seats),
– tour A2 11.30-13.30 am (20 seats)
– tour A3 2.30-4.30 pm (20 seats)
– tour A4 3.30-5.30 pm (20 seats)

– tour B1 10.30-13.30 am (30 seats)
– tour B2 2.30-5.30 pm (30 seats)

I would like that beside the single event booking, visitors can buy i.e. A1+B2 or, A1 for one day + B1 for another day, with a price discount (A+B is 10% off than the sum of A and B)
And of course that the ticket sold combined A1+B2 reduce the seats also when the A1 or B2 are sold like single tickets.
Therefore if I sell 1 ticket A1+B1 and 1 ticket A1 = seats available for A1 (20-2)=18

Do you think it is possible?
And about the recurring events, I’ve seen something similar for EE3, it is compatible with EE4 or there is some add on that could help us?

Thank you for the advice to check the demo! I’m going to ask an access right now.

Hi Elice,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

EE4 doesn’t yet allow for multiple Event purchases in one registration (it’s being tested currently).

As such you would currently need to have the tickets in one event.

So if while you could allow users to buy ticket A and ticket B, if you wanted to allow a bulk purchase with discount you would need ticket C (a combination of A and B). This is why I mentioned you may end up with more tickets than planned due to the different combination possibilities.

Combined tickets can still reduce the capacity of the date time. As an example Ticket A is attached to Datetime 1, ticket B attached to Datetime 2, ticket C is attached to both Datetimes 1 & 2.

So a purchase of Ticket A and Ticket C would reduce Datetime 1’s capacity by 2 and Datetime 2’s capacity by 1.

Recurring events is not currently possible for EE4. EE3 addons are not compatible with EE4 and vice versa.
