Seating chart not charging or reserving seat, but sends a ticket with the seat!

I am using the seating chart and on a couple occasions now someone will purchase a few seats and the first (main) registration will say the seat is confirmed, but not charge for it and not reserve it. That person gets a ticket with the seat number, but the seat is still available for someone else to register creating double-bookings.

Hi Michael,

Can you go to your site’s Event Espresso > General Settings and check the Email settings to verify whether “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” is set to Yes or No? If it’s set to Yes, and you want to continue to send registration confirmations before payment, it may be best to remove the ticket link from the registration confirmation email. Or you could set it to No and include the ticket link shortcode in the payment confirmation email only.

Hi Josh,

That was already turned off. I don’t think I was being clear. I have a customer enter information to purchase a ticket and click on the seat in the seating chart they want and it does not hold or complete the purchase of the seat; however, the receipt says (getting a receipt because of the other tickets) that seat is held for them. Another customer will come and buy that same seat because it is not held after the hour. I end up with double bookings. The Excel export shows the registration and the seat in the Price Option column, but empty in the seat tag column. I also have incomplete transactions that will go back in and pick different seats and complete the transaction then the system holds both seats. I really need to know what is happening here. I am starting to feel like this system doesn’t work. There has been one issue after another!

Hi Michael,

It sounds like the root cause of this is the incomplete payment part. If the payment status is incomplete, the seat will become available again. You can change this by going to Event Espresso > General Settings and setting the default payment status to Pending.

Also, if the payment gateway isn’t configured correctly, the payment status will not automatically get set to completed like they should. May I ask which payment option(s) are set up? I can help you make sure these are set up correctly.
