Searching registrations 414 Request-URI Too large

I am having an issue when I am searching registrations from the registration page.
I enter an email or name in the search registration field.
The first 4 searches will show the results.
After the 4th search , no matter what I put in the search registration field will result with a page displaying 414 Request-URI too Large.
I have to click on registrations from the event espresso menu and then can do some more searches.

I do clear out the search registration field and the text I enter is no way larger than 30 characters , so do not understand why it displays this error page.

Its like a cache or something is building up and to clear it you have to re-open the registration page from the menu.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

Can you please confirm if you have any security plugins installed? Sometimes there might some setting in the security plugin to “filter long URL”.

If disabling any security plugins doesn’t help. Can you send us a screenshot or video of the issue for better understanding?

Looking forward to helping you.

Thank you.

I have Acunetix WP security. I do not see any settings for long url but when I deactivated the plugin it still caused the issue after so many searches on the registration page. I also have akismet and also deactivated that plugin.
Still have the issue after so many searches.
To recreate
in WordPress, go to event espresso menu, click on registrations
on the registration page at the top right is a search registration field.
Type in a name, hit search registration
repeat with another name and hit search registration
do this a few times until you get the page that shows 414 request-uri

Hi there,

The issue you are running into is from a return_url value being passed to the URL from the search, it is used to track the filter settings for each search.

Each search is adding the current settings onto the return_url value which then eventually exceeds a limit set on the server side which then returns the above error.

I’ll create a ticket to investigate this further but currently the only way around it is to click the Event -> Registrations link to clear the value, or alter a setting on the server to allow for a larger request_uri (although you will still eventually run into the same problem with more searches anyway).
