Scan Lookup Only Completed

Hey Guys! Event season starting again and I was successfully able to push EE to 4 other orgs…yay!!!

I absolutely LOVED the scanning to LOOKUP instead of instantly checking in. The problem I ran into was that it didn’t ONLY list Completed transactions. Not sure if this was addressed but thought I’d check so I know how much maintenance I need to be before hand like deleting all abandoned records.

Thanks again!

Hi b2995,

The scanner will currently lookup all registrations regardless of status, this is to allow users who require pay at the door (and other payment options) to continue to use the scanner.

When you lookup the attendee it will show you the status of the registration below – http://take.ms/zinGY

It also shows the amount owing next to the registration.

The problem with only scanning Approved registrations is what then happens if a user hands you a ticket that you scan and it pending payment? If we simply refused to display details for that ticket you can not see why, or what the problem is. The lookup mode allows you to review each scan before checking the user in so you know the status and can make the decision on how to handle that ticket at the time.

I can certainly add this as a feature request, however unless I’m mistaken I’m not sure how this help when scanning tickets with a status other than Approved, can you provide further details please?

Is there a way I can change it to only display APPROVED?

I can definitely understand that reasoning. The reason I only want APPROVED displayed is because our registration volunteers are basically trained “on the spot”. I noticed that several “Pending Payments” slipped in at our last event and our tickets are several hundred of dollars. The idea is that if anyone can’t be found, they will be handed over to our manager who is fully trained. The manager will be able to look them up in the system and see that they have not paid. Hope that helps to understand my “why” πŸ˜‰

Thank you!

I looked into the code and currently there is no way to set set the scanner to only display approved registrations.

I’ve requested some feedback from on developers on this and will update this thread with any news.

One thing I did realize is that ‘Continuous mode’ seems to do exactly what you need for the volunteers as it will only check-in registrations that are Approved.

Any other registration will then fail, would this not be when the manager uses lookup mode to check the attendee and make a decision on how to handle that ticket?

I’m not trying to be awkward with this but the more options we add to EE the more complicated it becomes (we already receive feedback for too many options so we keep these to a minimum)

So is there a reason the volunteers can’t use continuous mode and the manager lookup mode?

We require additional verification and use the scanning as a pure “look-up” feature. If it’s not a simple solution, I can find a work-around πŸ˜‰

Thank you.

I’ve added additional details to the ticket so we can discuss this and see what options we can provide.
