I just set up a nice windows 2012 box. What with all the issues I have had recently with my host, West Coast, I am thinking about hosting my self.
What are some of the prerequisites I would have to install for it to work….?
Thanks!

I am not a server expert, but I would strongly advise against using a windows server for Event Espresso, it is not a recommended server type.

See here https://eventespresso.com/requirements/ where it says

Please be aware that Event Espresso (as well as most other plugins) may not function properly when used on Godaddy, Yahoo, Crazy Domains (Australia), and most Windows/IIS based servers.

Thank you for this excellent feedback.  Good thing I am running the eval version of 2012 and not purchased.

Is there anyone out there who reads these forums who is successfully running Event Espresso on Windows and IIS?  I am much more familiar with Windows/IIS than Linux.

Hello,

Your post throws up a couple of red flags.

I also am not a server guy, but I’d even go further than Dean and say that I wouldn’t recommend hosting myself; mainly because of all of the maintenance headaches. There are plenty of excellent webhosts out there.

Also, as Dean stated, we don’t recommend running Event Espresso on Windows server. Even WordPress recommends Linux. Please see here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Hosting_WordPress
