Hi! I’ve been looking for a solution to my event problem for awhile. In fact, I looked at EE once before. I’m now redoing my research to get updated info and I’m hoping someone can let me know if a) EE will do what I want with minimal customization and b) what version and package is best. I’m going to be running a gaming convention in 2015 (and hopefully annually). We will have board games and a variety of other events. I’m currently testing a site called “RegOnline” which is workable for what I need, but it’s not very flexible (and their support is lacking). I need to be able to do this – users (participants) will need to purchase a badge to get them into the convention for the weekend. They will also choose from a list of available games or events that take place during a particular session. In other words, Saturday from 8am-noon is session A, Sat 1pm-5pm is session B, etc. Each of these sessions will have multiple events available within. Some of these events will be free, others may have an additional cost, so the system will need to be able to do that. Additionally, because a user would only be able to sign up for one event per session, the system will need to be able to prohibit users from taking two events in Session A (or at least warn them that they’re doing that). For the badges to get them into the con – I need the ability to have multiple badge types. IE, Friday only, Saturday only, Sunday only, Weekend, and then specialty badges – one for game masters, one for VIPs, etc. Each of these would have their own cost and may (in the case of the specialty badges) require an access code. Not everyone can be a VIP. Ideally, the individual events/games can be populated from a CSV. You see, game masters will be entering their games into a form on the site. Right now, with RegOnline, I have to have volunteers retype or copy/paste that info into RegOnline. It would be great if I could download that form data, and then import it into EE. I need to be able to print a check in sheet when the user checks into the con, but I don’t really need to print individual tickets. So, good people of EE, how can I make this happen? |
Hi Matt, How are you today? I doubt Event Espresso will be a great fit without significant customization or extention. The biggest challenge you will have is building parent-child events/tickets. You will want conditional logic for the events that someone chooses, where the child events are shown for individual sessions. In EE4 each session would have to be its own ticket. And that is fine, but you would have to style or organize all the tickets so people choose one ticket from the parent session and tickets to each of the sub-events to each of the sub-sessions. It can get complicated pretty quickly. You can sell tickets to each session or child session, but note the above about building in any dependency into them. What do you mean/want by access codes? Event Espresso does provide a way to download all the data to a list of registrations or a check-in list. |
