Would like your opinion – I have a Conference Event with General Admission tickets. I have had people register so far and it’s working great. However, now I would like to add a Pre-Conference Event, a Banquet Event, a special presentation event, etc. If I create separate events and have people register for that – is there a way to set up a restriction to where those who are registering for the additional events HAVE to first be registered for the Conference? or is there a better way to structure this?
Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

Hi there,

We don’t current have the logic for events relying on other events (must purchase ticket from Event 1 to allow registration on Event 2) but for you setup above could you not use additional tickets within the same event?

For example:

Pre-conference admission + General Admission
Pre-conference admission + General Admission + Banquet
General Admission
General Admission + Banquet

and so?

ANother option is to just set the ‘General Admission’ ticket to be required, then when the user registers onto the event you have:

General Admission (required)
Pre-conference event
Banquet
Special presentation event

The user is then forced to purchase a general admission ticket, but can also opt into any of the others, would that work?

This does keep all of the tickets in a single event which may not work for you, but does allow you to set a restricting of at least requiring the general admission ticket.

Thank you for your response – that information will be helpful for me to set that up for future events.
I’m wondering if I went ahead and made those changes to the event now – is there a way for those who have already registered/paid for that event to go back in and add additional tickets?
Thanks again!

Hmm, not easily.

If you go the route with multiple combine tickets (General Admission, General Admission + tickets etc) then you could use the attendee mover add-on to ‘move’ the registration onto the new ticket and have the user pay the difference (if any) but its still a little clunky.

But if you go the separate ticket route they will not be able to add additional registrations within also selecting the Admission ticket.

Do you have many current registrations? You may be better ‘fixing’ the event and then asking the registrants to re-register with the correct selections, then refund any difference owed.
