Hi,

We are using Event Espresso 4 version of the plugin. We require a functionality in which we can add Users in the system and assign them roles for managing the event. Roles such as Event Administrator, Staff, etc.

On searching we found a plugin ‘Roles and Permissions Basic Add-on’, but this is not available under EE4 resources.

Please let us know how do we create user roles in the system under EE4.

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for contacting us today.

If you want to create user role you can use this custom plugin:

https://monosnap.com/file/OByG22pbZaAHZZNz6LXThha9GutLux

This plugin will add two new user role as ‘Event Organizer’ and ‘Events Managers’.

Here ‘Event Organizer’ can only access the events which they have assigned.
But ‘Events Managers’ can have the full access to EventEspresso within the website but not to the other sections of WordPress.

You can install the plugin and let us know if you have any question.

Thank you.

Hi,

1. After uploading the plugin user roles were displaying and we assigned Event Manager to a user. But when that user is logging into the website the user is redirected to website home page.
At the top there is an option to go to Event espresso, but it is again and again redirecting to the home page of the website.

2. We also assigned Event Organiser role to a user, but there is no option to event to the Organizer.

Please advise.

That’s not the default behaviour for WordPress.

Are you using a plugin to hide the admin from anyone other than admins?

2. We also assigned Event Organiser role to a user, but there is no option to event to the Organizer.

The above will likely also affect this role, but EE events will only show up for these users if they have been set as the Event Author.

In continuation to the below post:
https://eventespresso.com/topic/roles-and-permissions-basic-add-on-event-espresso-4-2/

We tried disabling and it seems that our website uses following plugins that are creating conflict. We cannot disable these plugins as these are important for website functionality.

– s2Member Framework
– s2Member Pro
– LoginWP (Formerly Peter’s Login Redirect)

Please let us know how can we remove this conflict.

Roles and Permissions Basic Add-on: Event Espresso 4

The below thread is not resolved.
https://eventespresso.com/topic/roles-and-permissions-basic-add-on-event-espresso-4/

Please see steps we performed to make it work as described:
– Removed old EE Event Roles Plugin and activated provided plugin.
– Then checked plugin settings in event section and user section.
– Then deactivate plugins one by one and checked roles plugin working or not.
– Created dummy users.
– Deactivated all plugins then checked roles plugin working or not.
– After all plugin deactivate found php errors.
– For error resolving reviewed errors and activated some plugins.

Still we could not assign a Manager to a specific event.

Hi there,

The below thread is not resolved.

There is no ‘Roles and Permissions’ type of add-on for EE4.

We built capability checks into Event Espresso 4 which gives the ability to limit access/features based on the capabilities on an account but we don’t have an official add-on for managing the above so you won’t find a specific section for doing this.

The above plugin adds 2 new roles within WordPress which you can then assign to you users.

Like this: https://monosnap.com/file/VKNDAFcXczlOJ3lVAqk6eTXdbeYAVT

So when you create or edit your users those roles should show.

Then within the event editor, you can set the user as the author and if they have the roles mentioned in that thread they will have the access mentioned for those roles.

Event Author: https://monosnap.com/file/FBB8XtRnX5p4T5XbFUtVweJFNwYSZO

If you don’t see the Author metabox, check the screen option in the top right of the page and make sure the checkbox is enabled for Author.
