Hi, Just to give all the info, we had thought on the following plugins for this project (Gravity Forms, Membership, Event Espresso 4, among others..). I would definitely appreciate a quick answer on this one. Thanks a lot in advance!! All the best |
Hi Mario, A quick answer is one ofthe risks of running Event Espresso on Windows Azure is things don’t work which lead to more troubleshooting and potentially higher support costs to keep the client happy. This is because our development and testing stacks run on Linux/Apache or nginx. |

Hi Josh, That is indeed a quick answer, but I am afraid it’s not the sort of answer we had expected getting. All you are saying, we already know. Based from your brief words, it seems we should seriously consider dropping Event Espresso as the Event management plugin for this project. Or are the issues around Windows/Azure and EE incompatibilites been documented in some paper so we can check which of the functionalities and features will eventually fail and which of them will still stand and work flawlessly regardless of the host environment? Thanks again! |
Hi Mario, The recommended server stack goes beyond Event Espresso in of itself. Please note that WordPress core has the same recommendation about using LAMP here: https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/ A WordPress powered solution may not be the best option for this client. I’m sure it’s not the answer you wanted, but it’s an honest answer based on years of experience. I hope you can find a solution that will work within the constraints placed on this project. I also hope you’ll check out Event Espresso 4 for the next project down the road as it will likely allow for a supported server stack. |
