I just now was able to update to the latest version of EE after getting the rest of my site ready for php 8.2. In doing so, I have been able to experience the new UI. Like others have mentioned, it is quite bad, and breaks any type of customizations. I use ACF to attach a lot of other event data to events, and the interface is severely messed up. I understand wanting to make it more accessible, however, the rest of WordPress back-end still works the same as before, so it just introduces another UI into the overall system. My event admins are all complaining because, well, change is hard. And change is harder when it’s unclear what it was for or what it accomplished.
Gripes aside, I want to make sure what I am seeing is actually the legacy editor and not the new editor? See screenshot.
I’m afraid to update to the advanced editor. Will ACF still function? Can I revert back if I don’t like it? So much of the interface is difficult to use being so large.
Yes, you have the option to use Legacy Editor or Advance Editor. you just need to go to your EE admin -> Events -> Default Setting -> then select the editor you prefer. https://monosnap.com/file/7GCtFH60RINdM9ITWEfqfExScjCRez
