Hi
I have been working with ee4 for a few sites and know recurring events is in the pipeline (the alpha on GitHub does not work). I currently have 9 hourly slots every day plus additional events all year. I have seen some work rounds to create hourly tickets and duplicate events which may work. My question is, Is there still support for ee3 for latest WP and the ios/android scanning app on new mobile devices? I may bite the bullet and re-theme my project in ee3 if they are or is this just not suited for EE4?

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

My question is, Is there still support for ee3 for latest WP and the ios/android scanning app on new mobile devices?

In short, EE3 now only receives security updates.

I use the latest version of EE on a test site using the latest version of WP and don’t run into any issues with it, including scanning tickets. However, the ticket scanning app is no longer available on the Google app store for EE3
but I can send you the APK to sideload if you want to try it (works fine on my S8 running A9).

I may bite the bullet and re-theme my project in ee3 if they are or is this just not suited for EE4?

Sorry but I don’t follow this question, can you rephrase?

Hi Tony, again thanks.
I suppose the question is it worth downgrading to ee3 just for recurring event functionality – but would be worried about the lifespan of the project.

Tbh, that’s a tough question.

If your events are heavily based around recurring events, then EE3 could be the way to go however doing so limits you not only in feature development but also flexibility as EE4 was designed to allow for greater flexibility in areas that had very little in EE3.

Personally, I’d try to stick with EE4, but right now with the current editor that does mean more admin work for any type of recurring events.
