Resolving abandoned cart issue

I sent the email below to couple of students who seem to have attempted to register on several occasions but did not complete payment (see quoted text).

This actually happens quite frequently, and I’ve had a number of students email me to tell me that once they’ve started their registrations but stopped the transaction for whatever reason, they cannot figure out how to get back to their cart to complete the transaction. And if they’re doing it on the same PC, the system won’t allow them to just “start over”, because it detects that there is something in their cart and wants them to go back to the cart to adjust things.

I have been telling them to clear the history/cookies and start over – this has worked for me when I’ve experimented with it. But many people don’t know how to do this, and find the whole process frustrating.

Does anyone know of a better/easier way for students to get back to their cart?


We noticed that you recently attempted to register for the above-referenced course beginning on January 26, but that the registration was abandoned before payment was completed.

If you still want to participate in the course but experienced difficulty in submitting payment online, you may want to try clearing your browser history/cookies and attempting registration/payment again. If you are still encountering difficulties, please reply to this email and we can send you a link that you can use to make payment online.

Hi there,

By ‘cart’ I assume you mean using the Multi Event Registration add-on? If so you could use the Mini Cart widget include within that add-on to add a cart to a sidebar on your site.

Another option is to add a link to your menu to send the users to the cart, would that work?
