Resetting License Key on live site

Hi –

I posted the question below:
License/reCAPTCHA conflict when I created a local test environment

Is there another way to fix the duplicate license issue other than resetting the license key on the live site? We would prefer to not touch the live site.

Can I just remove the license from the test site?

Hi Tom,

Can I ask what it is you think will happen on the live site?

To reset the license key you click ‘Request reset’ next to your license key in your EE account page which then resets your key.

Which ever site you then use with the key will ping our servers at some point and re-assign the key to domain it used (this could be the live or local site if you have the key in both which is why I recommmend removing the key from the local site).

The license key is used for support and 1 click updates, it does not change EE functionality other than that. It looks like you don’t currently don’t have an active support license so resetting the license key will have very little effect either way, the notice about duplicate domains may be removed but you will then see a notice to show you key has expired (which will eventually happen regardless of resetting the key or not)

Hi Tom,

You’ll need to remove the license key from the test site in order to use the key on the live site, and it still may require a reset from your account page. In either case though it looks like your support license needs to be renewed. If you have any questions about renewing your support license you can contact the sales team and they can assist you with getting your support license up to date.
