We have many events with different ticket prices, but people only reserve tickets and pay at the door. They may not know at the time of booking how many of which ticket type they need, and we don’t need to know that in advance. If the tickets are not collected by a certain time they will be resold on the day.
Our dilemma is this: If we don’t enter a price the events show up as free (which is not correct) and there seems to be no granular control over this. If we do enter prices we would need to enter all ticket types and the customer would always have to select a payment option. As far as I can see there is no option to just reserve tickets, i.e. simply register for paid events.
What we really need is a way to not show any prices for certain events. Do we need to hard-code this to prevent them showing up as free?
1) You can setup payment options, but if people register without paying then they can pay at the door. You can tell people they don’t have to pay right now if they don’t want to.
2) What if you created only one type of ticket called “Free Registration”, but then used custom questions and answers to let people select the type of ticket they want? You could use multiple questions and configure them as answers in the registration form?
The basic registration could be free, but the “tickets” (really answers to a custom question) would tell people the price at the door. E.g. “How many $40 VIP Ticket(s) do you want?” Then they can add a number, or click a box, or choose an option. Does that make sense?
