Replace one Registrant for another (with infusionsoft integration)

What is the best process for handling changes to the attendee. The customer simply sends another person in their place. We dont want to change Name of registrant as this will replace the Contact name in IS.

Do we add a new Registrant from the back end and apply payment, and
Cancel the initial registration?
