Hello!

We are wondering if it’s possible to remove taxes on the incomplete payment Transaction page. We know we can create a second set of tickets without taxes before the purchase is made but we need a solution in the case where we have to remove the taxes afterwards before applying the payment.

We did create a discount code to remove taxes, but sometimes it is off by a few cents. If there isn’t a way to remove taxes directly (without using this discount code) is there a way to override the ‘incomplete’ payment status to complete?

Thank you.

One solution we thought of is having a new payment method type titled ‘Tax Exemption.’ Is it possible to have a custom ‘method of payment’ type to the ‘apply payment’ window?

Thank you.

I just found this: https://eventespresso.com/topic/adding-custom-payment-methods-to-drop-down-list/ and am checking it out.

Oh, it seems as though that article is to change the names of existing payment methods. We want to add a custom one.

Are you tring to make css code and set the display to none?

Can you send me the link or screenshot of the data you want to hide. I may suggest some styling code.

Thanks

Thank you Rio. I was kind of thinking out loud in this post, so it may be confusing.

What we want is to add a custom option to the ‘Method of Payment’ drop down on the ‘Apply a Payment’ window: https://snipboard.io/Cn8TFK.jpg

We want to add one that says ‘Tax Exempt.’

You can’t add your own custom selection there, those are a list of payment methods available within Event Espresso.

However, what you can do is activate a payment method you don’t actually intend to use and then rename that to be used a the ‘Tax Exempt’ payment method.

Theres a few options when doing that but what I would recommend doing is using:

https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-flexible-payment-method/

It’s basically just an offline payment method (like the Invoice payment method) which you can name whatever you want. It’s a payment method you don’t intend to use on the front end, just the admin, so you follow the steps I’ve posted in the thread you linked to:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/adding-custom-payment-methods-to-drop-down-list/#post-296288

Anywhere you see ‘Bank Draft’ would be the Flexible payment method.

That works great, thank you very much Tony! 🙂

My original question on “We are wondering if it’s possible to remove taxes on the incomplete payment Transaction page.” is on the table again.

When we know we have a client that needs a tax exempt we set up the ticket(s) without taxes beforehand BUT sometimes it happens that they only give us their tax exempt forms after the transaction has been put through…

In short, no you can’t manually remove them/change the pricing within a transaction once it has been created.

But what you can do is use the attendee mover add-on to ‘move’ their registration onto a ticket that has been setup to be tax-exempt.

Would that work?

Thank you for the suggestion!
