Hi there,
All I am trying to do is display a simple list of the events currently that are live, without: the large featured image, the massive header, the huge amount of white space, etc. etc. This is very very frustrating to try to do with CSS modifications as the code does not lend well to adjustments. Can you please provide me with a work around?

Hi Dan,
Those elements are actually styled by your WordPress theme. If all you need is a simple list, and you’re familiar with how to work with page templates you can add some code to a page template to get a simple event list. Here’s a link to a gist that includes some example event list code:
