Hello and happy new year! In registrations since December 28 (as far as we can tell) we’ve had two instances of registrations being overwritten, and one that we can tell that did not show up entirely, though we received a notification of their registration. For example of the overwriting:

1. John Doe signs up for Event A.
2. Jane Doe is next to sign up for Event A.
3. Jane Doe’s information now shows up instead of John Doe’s, so that it now appears Jane Doe has signed up twice.
4. The only thing that proves she hasn’t is that we receive a notification of John Doe’s sign up, and that the payment in Stripe has his email address and the timestamp matches the one with the transaction.

I fixed the two instances in phpmyadmin by replacing the attendee ID number, and filling in the questions from the notification email. However, it is virtually impossible to find out if there are any more instances of this unless we manually comb each one (I only noticed these two because they emailed to confirm or ask questions, and I checked).

In the second issue where someone signed up, we have the payment and the notification email, but they are nowhere to be found in Event Espresso. Maybe they too got overwritten, but on the event they signed up for, no one gives the appearance of having signed up twice like in the other issue.

I have updated Event Espresso as soon as updates have become available, so are either of these issues a known bug? It would take days to comb through and find out if there are other occurrences of this on our end, matching notifications to registrations in EE, and checking transaction IDs in stripe with registrations in EE. Thanks!

Sorry, forgot to specify we’re on EE4. Thanks!

Hi there,

Do you have the EE4 User integration add-on enabled on the site?

Are users required to log into the site to register?

Yes, but they are not required to log in to register. Thanks!

Neither of the 2 are known bugs, however are John and Jane Does related in any way or are these completely separate users?

With the EE4 user integration add-on, by default if a user enters details that have been used for a previous ‘EE Contact’ they will need to log in to continue with the registration.

So what I’m wondering is if John Does registers and signs into the site, then re-runs through another registration as Jane Doe. With the EE4 user integration add-on the registration details used during registration update the user account details and the registrations are linked to the EE Contact (which alos links to the user account).

So in the above scenario the 2 registrations would show up as Jane Doe.

Does that sound like what happened there?

For the other user, which payment method did they use?

That was my thinking, but the two users are unrelated and do not know each other. The one who appears to have signed up twice has a user account, but the one that got overwritten does not.

The other user paid through Stripe, which is the only payment method we accept.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate the detective work!
