Registrations not Processing Payment or confirming Registration

We have configured our Event Espresso to utilize PayPal Express for the payment gateway. A user can select the event registration, complete user details, get bumped over the PayPal enter payment details and submit – then things go wrong.

The user is sent back to our site, though not to the return URL we specified or to the Thank You page – it’s always the registration check out page, but the page is blank. No error, no message, no confirmation.

The registration shows up in the EE registration list as Incomplete and Pending Payment. The transaction never shows in the PayPal activity as having an issue.
The Transaction log in EE says:
> Registration Step Progress
>> Attendee Information : Completed
>> Payment Options : Initiated November 16, 2016 10:48 am
>> Finalize Registration : Never Initiated

We have double checked all our API settings in PayPal, but nothing seems to make a change. Any thoughts?

Hi there,

Can you re-send the redeem a support token form and include FTP credentials? We’ll need access to the files on the website to be able to investigate and fix the issue.

Also, if you have not already done so, you will need to contact WPEngine support and ask them to disable caching and enable the WP Heartbeat API for the registration checkout and Thank You pages. There’s more information about how to get WPEngine hosted sites properly configured to use Event Espresso here:

Yes, we have disabled caching and enabled the Heartbeat API.

How can I resubmit the support form without purchasing another token? I cannot find how to access/edit it.

You can go to your account page and click on the link to the form under the “Priority Support Token” heading.

Can you do a test registration one more time now? It should be fixed.

Your site needed the current version of Event Espresso in order to run the PayPal Express gateway. So I updated it to have the current version, and then set up a temporary sandbox gateway to test PayPal Express sandbox. The test passed for sandbox, so if live payments still didn’t work, the next step would have been making sure the correct type of API credentials were set.
