Tried to download my registrations this morning and it immediately opens a blank unknown page on the website. I have read through a number of the recent support topics for this issue. My website is set for HTTPS and I just went and downloaded your most recent update and replaced and installed but it remains not working. I checked my ISP host site PHP which is 8.0 or more so I do not think it is an issue. Last Fall on my first event with this software printing CVS was no issue. I had a security plugin BPS which was new so I deleted it, but the issue remains.

Im trying to replicate it but no luck. Can you try to check if there’s theme/plugin conflict?

You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ or any similar plugin.

You can do the above using Troubleshooting mode:

Tools -> Site Health -> Troubleshooting -> Enabled Troubleshooting mode.

That will disable all plugins and switch to a default theme and then allow you to enable specific plugins troubleshooting mode. Once disabled you will revert back to the current state.

thanks

I had previously done this exactly. Changed to a default theme from the Divi Theme I normally use and went to trouble shooting mode. When you click on the report button to still takes you toa unknown page and nothing to do with creating a CSV vile copy and downloading it to my computer. It comes up with Page not found-404. I used this installation for a chairty golf tournament last November and this function worked perfectly and repeatedly. The only plugin I have used different is Bullet Proof Security which I uninstalled immediately today when I first had the issue. Any help would be most appreciated. Without this option I am all stop with this charity golf tournament.

I did my best with your form but I do not have your full name email etc….so I put place holders. I gave you an admin access to the wordpress site and the current FTP access. ISP is Hostmonster. If this cannot be sorted out I am going. to have to build a new one through NHA’s Memberclicks main web page and registration setup. I cannot not be able to download a CSV vile of registrations for a golf touranment.
You can send me mail at retiredaffairs@navalhelicopterassn.org or mgbrattland@gerlecreek.com 619 454-0496 Mike Brattland

Hi there,

I’ve been digging into this and it looks like mod_security on the server is blocking the request.

Can you uninstall your last update please 5.0.18. If you managed to do that my auto updates plug in reinstalled it. So send me some email if you manage it just tell me how I can uninstall it to see if it will download the registration list…

I didn’t revert to the previous version, but we have an option within EE to use the ‘old’ CSV report system which I’ve used here to allow your CSV report to work.

I did this by adding define( 'EE_USE_OLD_CSV_REPORT_CLASS', true ); to your sites wp-config.php file.

The CSV report now downloads for me, can you confirm on your end please?

The ‘new’ CSV system (which has actually been within EE for at least 3 years now) uses a batch system to prevent timeouts when exporting large numbers of registrations. To do that it passes details to the server to create a batch job and mod_sec isn’t happy with those values.

I’ve created a ticket to investigate this but the above should work for you in the meantime.

and send me your name and email address…

I’m not really sure why you need this? I don’t have an issue sending those over but the form isn’t asking for our contact details which seems to be why you are asking for them.

maybe a phone number instead of all this forum stuff which does not see to work especially when your form with information is not clear on what you want

I’m sorry your finding the form confusing, that form is asking for login/FTP details for the site itself. It is collecting login details and also contact details for whoever is submitting the form, sometimes that’s different from the EE account details so we ask for them. Switching to collect those via phone would cause more confusion and delay support.

Thank you for finding the issue. It does work now this morning as advertised. Just like it did last Fall when I fist used it.
Now will there be a conflict if I reinstall bullet Proof Security Plugin to help protect our website from hackers or should i leave it as is?

For the record, this wordpress site is hosted by Hostmonster on their servers so the issue which Event Expresso had a conflict with was a security file in the WP Config file currently but not last November 2023 when it worked just fine.

Hello

Yes, You can try to install it then check if there’s any conflict. at least you easily can point out the conflict if there’s any problem.

thanks

There are no known conflicts with the above plugin and the CSV exports (new or old) so it should be fine

For the record, this wordpress site is hosted by Hostmonster on their servers so the issue which Event Expresso had a conflict with was a security file in the WP Config file currently but not last November 2023 when it worked just fine.

A conflict within wp-config.php?

The change I made to wp-config.php told Event Espresso to no longer use the ‘batch processing’ system we have for exporting large numbers of registrations. Your version now uses the ‘old’ system which exports all registrations on a single request and generate the CSV on that same request (that’s good for about 2000-5000 registrations depending on your sever).

What I suspect is the cause is mod_sec, specifically this rule:

https://github.com/SpiderLabs/owasp-modsecurity-crs/blob/v3.0/master/rules/REQUEST-933-APPLICATION-ATTACK-PHP.conf#L338-L396

We pass a datetime serialized object over to the batch system which saves the value and generates the CSV in batches, then steams that to the browser (that’s good for any number of registrations as the batch process pulls them in in smaller chunks until done).

I can’t be sure if that’s the issue you are running into but we have a ticket to update the batch system to remove the serialised objects in the next version of EE. So once that has been release we can test removing the constent I added to your wp-config.php file to switch back to the new system, if it works, that was the issue. If now we can investigate further.
