Registration Page Empty

Hi there!
Thanks for a great product and documentation.
I am a newbie and went thru the start up. The instructions are great and my first event is up. Only thing I didn’t find a lot of documentation on is the Registration page. When you click Register Now it goes there but is blank.

I have not edited much there so I can see it is using the short code [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] I would think that is fine but I am obviously missing something. Is there a checklist I can use to see where I might have missed what to click on to make the Registration page populate?

Thanks!
Kerry

Hi Kerry,

There’s a few things that can cause this, it could possible be an theme or plugin conflict.

We’ll go through a couple of steps to check first.

Can you Edit the page, make no changes and just click Updated. Then view the page again and see if anything is displayed.

Next go to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Critical Pages (tab)

Does it look like this – http://take.ms/4idmz

Showing Shorcode and Page status as ok?

On that page Click to update the settings and once again view your registration checkout page. Is it still blank?

Hi Tony,
Thanks for being so prompt.
Ran through your checklist and no change. Everything says status ok, and I see the short code on there as well.

Ok, next we can check for a theme conflict.

If you switch to one of the default themes such as twentyfourteen and view that page does it parse the shortcode?

You can do this without switching the theme for your visitors using the Theme Test Drive plugin (although sometimes this isn’t always 100%)

Tony,
So that’s weird, when I go to twentyfourteen there are some new things at the top of the nav bar like Event Registration (that summarizes them, is that from your plugin?) and from there I can click the Event and Register Now but still same, not showing.

I do have a developer that did some CSS changes. Could that affect it?
Is this worth paying for a token for you guys to take a look?

if its just CSS changes then no it shouldn’t effect it.

Did he change any of EE’s core files?

Can you go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

What is it set to?

Make no changes and hit save. This is called flushing your permalinks.

The next step is to de-activate all Non EE plugins and retest, this is to rule out a plugin conflict.

We can do this via support token if you prefer, although if you are comfortable disabling the plugins to troublehsoot this would be the first step we would take with the token anyway.

Tony,
Heading to try what you mentioned above, but I think it is tied to the shortcode thing. I just made a blank page and pasted it [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] to see if I could get the list to show. Same thing. Blank page.

Looking for permalinks now.

You can also enable WP_DEBUG within the wp-config.php file to see if the blank page is throwing any errors.

You’ll need FTP access to the site to do this, or something like cPanel to use its file manager.

Tony,
If I got a credit in today is this something you could look at today? Just in a time crunch with when clients want to post first event (Monday) and worrying I won’t be able to find the clue myself! 🙂

Hi Kerry,

Yes we can investigate this further today.

Once you have purchased a Priority Support Token go to Your Account page.

You should see a link to Redeem your token (just under your license keys), click that, provide all the details requested and we’ll take a look.

Hi Kerry

The issue here was caused by the sites theme.

I have replied privately to your support token with further details, please take a look and let me know if all works as excepted now.
