Have booking system for a charity event, where multiple tickets can purchase at the same time, each ticket must have the name of the person attending on it, BUT the system keeps replacing all tickets names with the name of primary registration person.

This all worked fine on the test demo site demoee.org/cryevents
But our live site http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/events

Hi there Kerry, the behavior can vary depending on how your events are configured. Could you please take a look at the information below and then check one or two of your events and share feedback?

Here are how the primary and additional registrants can become linked:

A) An event that does not collect any information for additional registrants (http://cl.ly/image/3x1n1a0H1U1k) = Add contact button will appear http://cl.ly/image/3T0H1X0g0F09

With the scenario above, you can click Add Contact to create a new contact and use a different email address and a name.

B) An event that does collect information from additional registrants but does not ask for the personal question group (http://cl.ly/image/3k3P2o3S1n3g) = No Add contact button will appear http://cl.ly/image/3s3E0m113v2v

With the scenario above, you can click View/Edit Contact to edit the existing contact. Be sure to use a different email address and a name.

C) An event that does collect information from additional registrants including the personal question group (http://cl.ly/image/101f1m0M2s2b) = Add contact button will appear http://cl.ly/image/03241v2M0C28

With the scenario above, you can click Add Contact to create a new contact and use a different email address and a name.

Changes from WP User Integration

If you are using the WP User integration, then things work a little differently due to the sync that occurs. For example, if I use the email address “hello@example.com,” then I’ll be able to update the additional registrants/attendees only by creating a new contact via the Add Contact button.

The above scenario for WP User integration won’t work if you have manually registered multiple sets of registrants. This is because the primary registrant for each group will be synced so editing the primary registrant who has an email of “hello@example.com” would affect any other prior registrations that used that email.

As a workaround, deactivate the WP User integration if it is in use. Then cancel the existing registrations through your WP dashboard and then register a new set of registrants:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/manually-add-registrant-wordpress-dashboard/

As long as the WP User integration is off, then you’ll be able to register registrants in a group and update them as needed (e.g. change the contact information for primary registrant and additional registrants). See the scenario A, scenario B, and scenario C at the beginning of this post for information on how to do so.

Hi we have as sort of second and third option going. As we are also selling child ticekts we do not need an email address for them. So we have a set of additional information to ask the additional registrations (First Name Surname (totally new questions) and relationship to the deceased if applicable)

This worked fine on the demo site that was setup up for us BUT on the live site the First Name Surname are being replaced by the primary registrations details

Have disabled Wp intergration and still the same problem.

Is this case being looked into? We are still having groups register where the primary registration shares the same same name of everyone else they are registering.

Hi Kerry,

You mentioned that you are using scenario B and scenario C without the WP User Integration.

You also shared that a name is being collected, however an email is not. Based on this information, this contact information is being collected through one or more custom questions.

If you want to collect personal information for additional attendees, then you would need to enable the personal question group for additional attendees.

Otherwise, any attendee information through custom questions will be linked to the primary attendee (i.e. inherit the primary attendees name and email).

Custom questions cannot be used to populate the contact record for an additional attendee. The contact record information for the name, email, and address can only be populated through system questions which are part of the personal question group and the address question group.

Is there any way not to collect the additional email addresses? We tested this on our demo site with custom Questions for the name and it all worked fine.

Thanks

Hi Kerry,

The information that I shared prior:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/registration-of-multiple-attendeestickets-are-all-being-given-same-name/#post-172499

…is accurate for the current version of Event Espresso 4. I also asked a team member to check last week.

You cannot collect additional registrant names without an email address through the personal question group as they will not appear in the registrations overview screen.

If you would like to setup a new demo site for testing, then we can share feedback on what is expected to happen based on your settings for your test event.
