Hello,

I get a “Registration Not Open” mesage in a red box on hover over both the caledar page and widget. Why is that? Can someone tell me how to fix that? The event is Open, so this issue is confusing.

Regards,
Al

Hi Ronald,

That’s odd, as that message should only appear if the registration period has not yet begun.

Is this a normal event? Recurring? Ongoing?

Do you have a link to the event that we can look at?

Have you checked the event and registration dates to make sure they are ok?

Hi,

Further to this we have an open ticket for something similar, can I ask, is the registration start date of the event today?

Hey, Dean:

Thanks for the questions to help me figure this problem, of which I did. Yesterday, I set a “test” event date of 1/18/14 with the registration start date beginning yesterday, which is the same day that I was setting up the event (1/6). It turns out that this was the reason why the “Registration Not Open” message appeared upon hover on the calendar/widget because when I changed the registration start date to the 5th or earlier, the message did not appear, which is probably what you were alluding to in your second post. Note to self: Do not set the registration start date on the same day of setting up an event. Thanks again, Dean.

Hi Ronald,

There’s a fix for this in the calendar development build and we are working on getting this and another fix ready for release.

Dean,

I do have another question on how to set up an event start and end date that occurs over a series of Saturdays only. I have a test event starting on 1/18 and ends on 2/15, Saturdays only. Right now, the calendar blocks all days from the 1/18-1/31 in the same color, which is good (the block, however, does not continue to February 15 when I forward the calendar to February for some strange reason. Is that common)? My main question, however, is there a way to show that the classes are held only on Saturdays via the Calendar and/or widget as opposed to having the calendar block off all days? This is not a huge problem if it can’t, but I am wondering why the calendar does not block the event into February.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Please advise.

Hi

“the block, however, does not continue to February 15 when I forward the calendar to February for some strange reason. Is that common”

No that isn’t common, I will raise a ticket for a developer to look into that. Thanks for letting us know about it.

There isn’t a simple way right now to only show the individual event dates on the calendar. The most common resolution is a bit fiddly. It involves creating X number of events that are on each day (e.g the event is 3 saturdays, so you create 3 events). All events are then linked to the first event by using the “alternate registration page” option in each event. That way, only event 1 will take the actual registrations but each date will show on the calendar separately.

Hey, Dean.

Thanks for raising a ticket on that issue of the block not extending into the following month. I really appreciate that.

Ok, I see. Daisy chain the separate Saturday classes together. Brilliant!

Thank you, again.

“Daisy chain” haven’t heard that phrase since dot matrix printers, but yes that’s exactly it.

We are of course looking to make that easier in the future versions of Event espresso and the Calendar.

Haha. Yes. A blast from the past. Thanks again.

Hi, again, Dean.

I tried to daisy-chain the three test events in February as per your instructions above.

http://dev.hdihawaii.com/calendar/

Is this what you meant?

I see how if Test Event 2 and 3 are clicked upon via the Calendar, I was re-directed back to Test Event 1, which would theoretically take the registration.

My only concern is that there will be three events listed on a page which may be confusing to some. So I’m thinking on the reg page, I will need to post an announcement saying to only use Test Event 1 reg. form to register for this class. Is that thinking?

Thank you.
