I recently made a couple events on Event Espresso. To test to make sure the event was working I ran a test registration. I entered the coupon code and the personal information i reguired for all attendees. Once i hit submit it brought me back to the same registration page with no information completed. Please advise

Hi Ryan,

Can you try this with the default WordPress theme active?

It’s also advised to check the shortcode on the main registration page as set in Event Espresso > General Settings under “Page settings”. The shortcode needs to be [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] on that page.

I’m having the same problem. It works with TwentyTwelve. It doesn’t work with the theme I’m using. What can I look for to fix this? I really like the theme I’m using.

Hi Bill,

Since you’ve narrowed it down to the theme, there are a few things that you can check. One is if the theme has code that looks like it may have been copied and pasted from this tutorial:

http://www.wprecipes.com/disable-wordpress-automatic-formatting-on-posts-using-a-shortcode

If that’s the case, can you try wrapping the shortcode on the registration page with the [raw] short tag?

It will look like this:
[raw][ESPRESSO_EVENTS][/raw]

It may also be a case where code has been added like that looks this:
http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/shortcodes-and-wpautop/79346?page=1

In which case, you could remove that code and if you need column shortcodes, you can use Justin Tadlock’s column shortcodes plugin instead:

Thanks Josh. The [raw] tag worked! I couldn’t find the code that you suggested (should it be in functions.php?), but the [raw] tagged fixed it. FYI, it is a them from themeforest.

Hi Bill,

Some themes will have many functions files within may folders, so similar code may be hard to track down, especially if there are many folders with many function files. Example screenshot.

I’m glad you were able to get this working by using the raw shortcode.
