I had an event set up and the registration form was displaying to allow someone to register. Now all that displays is the basic information with a register button. You can see it here [http://gsship.org/event-registration/?ee=2]. |
Hi Byron, Check the page settings in the Event Espresso>General setting screen. There should be a page set as the main registration page. Then check that page and verify that it has this shortcode on it: [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] As an aside, it looks like the page template that is set up for this page isn’t loading any scripts into the footer. Is there a call to load footer.php with the wp_footer() function for this page? |
Hi Josh Can you explain further the footer function. What should the code say? |
Here is the function reference for the wp_footer function from the WordPress Codex. Try switching to the twentyten or twentyeleven theme to see if the issue persists.

Hi Josh Unfortunately, that has not solved the problem. I’ve tried different theme, as you’ve suggested, but I have the same problem. I also have a problem of a new attendee being duplicated a number of times. I feel inclined to do a complete uninstall of EE, and then a fresh install. Do you think this will solve the problem? And, how do I do this, including deleting the backed database? |
I too have tried different themes with the same result. I uninstalled and deleted all EE plugins and tried a fresh install and I am still having the same problem. I am expierencing the same symptoms Imccarthy describes. CLick register and the page simply refreshes. In my case, none of the input fields, not even the so called 3 fields that are required for every registration are showing up on the registration page. Josh, or anyone, any other ideas?? |
As an update, I added a new event. Now, when I try to view the registration for one event, all I get is a list of events, witha register button for each. When I click the register button for any event, the page just refreshes with the same list of events displayed. It appears that trying to get to any single event will only display the list of events open for registration. When I mark an event as not active and try to view that event it still just displays a list of the active events. |
What is the shortcode on the page that is set to be the main registration page? It should be [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]. |
I’ve double-checked the shortcodes – they all appear to be correct, but I have the same problem. |
Which version number of Event Espresso is installed, and are there templates in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates? |
Verified short code is My version is Version 3.1.25.P , Files in uploads/espresso/templates are: alt_reg_page_display.php |
Hi Byron, What is the shortcode on the main registration page? Also, try renaming the /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates folder to something like /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates-old |
The short code on the Event Registration page is [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] I renamed the folder as you suggested. No change in the result. |
Which page is set as the main registration page in Event Espresso>General Settings? |
Sorry Josh, I should have mentioned that main registration page is set to ‘Event Registration’. |
You could try deactivation non-EE plugins. Before when the reg form was working, had anything else on the site changed? New plugins, updated plugins? |
Josh, Ok, I thought I had deactivated all plugins before when trouble shooting this, but tried it one more time. This time the registration form is being displayed as it should. Thanks. Now I am back to the original problem, that the registration is accepted without required fields containing any entered data, including the First Name, Last name and email fields being blank. I will find that post and continue on that problem there. Thanks for your help. |
Josh, Thanks for all your help. I discovered that my theme was making a cufon.now call that was causing an error. I loaded the WP-Cufón plugin and it solved the error. Now all plugins are activated and the form displays correctly and the required fields feature is working like a champ. |
Hi Josh – my issue has now resolved. I deactivated all WP plugins, and then one by one activated them until I found the error that causing the Registration error. There were two plugins that were the culprits: Shortcode, and NextScripts. Hopefully this is helpful to others. |
Thanks for sharing the solutions, that does help. |

I have this same problem. I just perchased event expresso and have yet to have a registration form display. Here is the link to my events page http://cultivatingcommunitynv.org/event-registration/ I have tried deactivating all the plug-ins, did work, and tried using event espresso light (deactivating the regular event expresso plug-in) instead and that didn’t work that either. I am at a loss as to what to do. Any help? |
Appologize for the typos. Deactivating all other plug-ins did not work. |
Hi Jonah, What is the shortcode on this page? It should be [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] Also, please double check the page settings in Event Espresso>General Settings: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setting-up-event-espresso/#page |
Yes. I have correct short code. And the page setting are good. If you click my link you can see that is showing and what isn’t. |
Hi Jonah, This might be a plugin conflict then. Can you try deactivating all non-EE plugins and check again? |
I deactivated every plug-in that wasn’t Event Espresso, no change. I also tried changing the template and still no change. |
@Jonah do you have the Roles and Permissions plugin activated? |
I don’t have any plug-in by that name. Should I? |
No. Just trying to rule things out. It looks to me like your shortcodes are wrong, but I cannot tell with out logging into your site. Please send us a login using the form on this page: In the department option, please select “I am sending login info as requested”. |
Hi Jonah, We received the log in credentials you sent, but they do not work. Can you double check and resend? Thanks. |
It is resent. Should be correct this time. |
Yes, it is. The problem was the permalinks setting was set to %postname%, and the server is not configured correctly to have pretty permalinks. After I set it to the WordPress default permalink setting, the registration form now displays. I installed the Event Espresso requirements check plugin, which has a few recommendations that you might want to check into. Navigate to this page while logged in to view the recommendations. |
