Registration emails coming to Me

When someone registers for an event, the confirmation email is coming to me. I’m not sure if I’m just receiving a copy or if it’s not going to the right person. I haven’t been able to get feedback on this yet. Is this a feature that got turned on with the latest update to 3.1.27.1? It didn’t happen until I updated to that version. Can I turn it off?

Running WP 3.4.2

Hello Lee,

Which version did you update from? We have fixed a lot of issues with emails in previous updates.

Those confirmation emails are to let you know someone has registered for one of your events. In General Settings of Event Espresso, you can set which email address you want those to go to. Enter the email address in the “Primary contact email:” field.

If you do not want confirmation emails to be sent until payment is received, then you will need to change “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” under Email Settings to “No”.

I updated from 3.26. Maybe this was a bug previously that wasn’t working correctly before, but is now.

Technically, I only want the emails to go to the person who confirmed registration. I don’t need copies of people signing up for class in my inbox. We have a lot of classes, so it’s starting to spam my inbox. Most of our classes are free too, so it’s easy for anyone to sign up.

If this was supposed to always happen, then nevermind. I’ll just filter the emails. I just want to make sure the attendees are getting confirmation emails too.

Hello Lee,

Yes, this is by design. It is the assumption that the admin of the events would like to know who is registering for classes.

If you were to clear out the Primary Contact Email in the Settings, then the From name in the email being sent to the attendees would show up as “(unknown sender)”, which could lead to the emails going to the attendee’s spam folder.
