If ‘Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received’ is set to ‘No’ and an event that someone has registered for is free, no registration confirmation email is sent as no transaction has taken place. Is this a bug or is it supposed to function like this?
Normally you should be getting an email when it’s a free event and ‘Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received’ is set to ‘No’. You can observe the above by running a test registration here:
Are you sure? The reason I ask is because if you’ve modified any code that runs during or after a registration for a free event, this could affect the hooks that the mailing functions use to hook into the registration process.
Just as a further troubleshooting tip, install the WP Mail Logging plugin and confirm if the email is actually being triggered but then not arriving (if it shows in the log after running a test registration then EE is triggering the email).
If the email IS triggered, check the log for anything strange with content of the email.
