I was under the assumption that when someone registers for an event the administrator will get an e-mail notification of the registration. This is not working. Please help.
Generally speaking issues with confirmation email are due to server configuration issues.
I have ran a test registration on your site and have not received any confirmation emails (free ticket). You could try installing a plugin such as Email Log to log any attemptes to send emails from your install. That will display any errors if thrown.
However, as mentioned email issues are generally due to server configuration and as such we recommend using a service such as Mandrill (Free up to 12k emails) to send transactional emails. You can use this with WordPress using the wpMandrill plugin.
