When registrants go though and pay via paypal they are redirected back to my website with the following error |
|
I have gone throgh all of the forums and tried everything that has been listed. I added the extra template page I have made sure that paypal is notifying the site all to no avail. The frustrating thing is it was working prior to my upgrading to the personal licence. Please Help! |

Hi Jake, I had a look at your site and whats happening is the cancellation page http://utahcprtraining.com/?page_id=119 is being requested as a page with an SSL certificate (https) which it doesnt have. I am assuming its the same for the thank you page as well. Make sure that in the Payment Settings > PayPal optiosn that the setting “Force HTTPS on Return URL” is turned off. Do you have any HTTPS plugins running? If so I would deactivate them and test again. Also, if you still have the free (“Lite”) version of Event Espresso on your site please remove it |
|
I went to my paypal and checked if it was forcing HTTPS on return and it isn’t. The radio button is selected on OFF. I don’t have any HTTPS plugins and I have already deleted the “Lite” Version. As I have mentioned I didn’t have any issues what so ever when I was using the lite version but when I upgraded to the personal licence it started giving me issues. If needs be I can provide my login details so you can look at my site and see if there is anything else. |
Hi Jake, In this case, it appears that the PayPal settings that were set earlier when the lite version was installed are still set. Here is a screenshot of the hidden inputs, which are pointing to https instead of http, please note that it’s also pointing to the lite version’s button. You can fix these issues by going to Event Espresso>payment settings and changing the button URL to: http://utahcprtraining.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/gateways/paypal/btn_stdCheckout2.gif then save the setting, and please be sure that the checkbox for force https is unchecked before saving. If that doesn’t update the settings, you can force it to update by checking the box to force https, saving, then unchecking the box, then save one last time. |

That did it! Thank you very much. It appears I missunderstood you when you said to uncheck the force HTTPS I though you were refering to settings on the paypal site itself. Just so you know when you purchase the licence you aught to send a tutorial on how to upgrade and all of the settings that need to be changed so lessen your load here on the forums. |
Hi Jake, Ideally you shouldn’t need to update any settings when updating from lite to Pro, but sometimes this can happen. We’re looking into ways to minimize this so there will not be any need for the user to update anything. It should, as they say, just work. |
