Register and Login Page

On this page – /registration-checkout/#checkout which is using this shortcode [ESPRESSO_CHECKOUT] our potential registrants are getting confused. WHen they’re not logged in, they see a login form and get nervous that they don’t have a login and then they call us up for help (wasting our time, and defeating the purpose of having an automatic registration system). They don’t bother to read the top of the page that says to register if they don’t have a login.

How can we edit the text of that message above the login telling them to register? Is there anyway to customize this page to make it more user-friendly, emphasizing the need to register for the program, instead of emphasizing the login.

Thanks,
Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Would it maybe make things easier for them if you didn’t require them to log in?

We considered that but unfortunately it is not an option. We need them to login so that they can track trainings that they have taken, and use some of the other features that we are in the process of adding. etc… Any ideas on how to change this page around a bit would be appreciated.

So we’re clear on what’s going on here, you have the option set so all people registering for an event must log in to the site before they can register for an event?

And the message you want to change/add to is the one that says “The event you have selected requires logging in before you can register. You can register for an account here if you don’t have a login.”?

If so, then that’s a translation ready string. The exact string is:
The event you have selected requires logging in before you can register. You can %sregister for an account here%s if you don\'t have a login.

You can add to/modify/remove from the message with a translation function. There’s an example of a translation function in our documentation:

It might also help to change things up so more pages on the site can only be viewed if you’re logged in. That could help separate the two actions: 1) logging into the site and 2) registering for a class.
