Regional Manager does not see any events

Bought R&P Pro today, after being quite frustrated with what R&P Basic can (not very much, in my eyes) or can’t do. So far, after hours of tedious trial and searching through the various EE settings and playing with Justin Tadlocks Members Plugin, I’ve been able to:

  • create an EE Regional Manager user Role (which has “espresso_group_admin” as Role name, for some unfathomable reason)
  • assign this Role to a WP user
  • create a Locale
  • assign this locale to 3 events

Now when I log in as the Regional Manager user, I can see some EE settings. However, not one event assigned this RMs locale is displayed in the Event Overview, or anywhere else for that matter.

Only when I create a fictitious event as Regional manager do the other events (which are assigned my locale) magically appear.
If I delete my RM-created event, everything goes dark again, and the Event Overview listing is displayed empty.

I think EE and R&P Pro will profit tremendously after a) this bug is fixed and b) at least basic documentation is made available.

Another topic I’d be interested in: what do I have to do to get the repeating events field displayed when creating an event as Regional Manager? Even when I edit the RMs event as Admin, the repeating events infos is not displayed – I have to create an event as Admin to see it.

Also not displayed (in a selectable way) are Event Staff/Speakers and Event Categories, if they were created by the Event Admin, not the Regional Manager.

Hi pbraun,

The R&P Pro was released as beta, so we have known issues and open tickets we’re working on (what you’ve reported here included, along with re-writing the original documentation).

We erred on the side of releasing early on this one, and bundled it into the developer package so people could start using this sooner rather than later.

One thing that has not been developed was compatibility with the Members plugin. At one time, the original R&P add-on was dependent on the Members plugin being installed. With the new versions, it is no longer necessary, it may even create a conflict if it’s installed along side these. Also note that R&P Pro depends on the basic version being installed.

Hi Josh

thanks for the feedback.

i was actually quite glad to be able to use R&P Pro, even in its buggy Beta form, as I’d promised my client non-admin access to EE a while ago, and have now been able to let them start to wreak havoc. If there was some sort of public “list of known issues and tickets” for the plugin (Beta or not), that would make things go somewhat smoother, I guess.

You write that the Members plugin is no longer necessary, or maybe even creates conflict. How would one create a new role in WordPress without this plugin? I haven’t seen this ability anywhere within any EE plugin – did I miss it?
Thanks, Phil

You didn’t miss it, it’s not there, however, creating a new role for the purposes of Event Espresso is no longer necessary. If you want/need to create new roles for other purposes, you are free to do that. However other roles than those added by the R&P plugin are not able to use the Event Espresso capabilities (e.g. you can’t assigne Event Manager capabilities to another role that you created and have that work).

OK, thanks for clarifying this about new roles and EE capabilities. I’ll try to figure out a way to make this work, as my clients marketing dept. folks will have to have Authoring capabilities on the entire WP site, as well as Espresso Master Admin capabilities.
I currently don’t see any R&P Pro download link in my account, is that correct?
Thanks, Phil

If you purchased it separately, it should be there. Someone from the sales team can look up your account and update it if you contact them via this form.
