I refunded a transaction for someone who cancelled their registration, but the message on the screen completely confuses me. Why does it say “no payments have been applied to this transaction yet, Click “apply payment” below to make a payment”

Why does it say that? Did my refund go through?

The wording could probably be improved there, but basically what’s happening there is you’ve removed all records of payment from that transaction. So that’s why it says “No payments have been applied”.
One thing you’ll need to know is no actual refund was processed there. You’ll need to initiate the refund from your Stripe account’s Dashboard. The refund feature in the EE admin is purely there for record keeping purposes.
