Information for Event Espresso is stored as text so it would not be taking up a majority of your backup file size.
Your backup tool may be backing up the entire site which would include the uploads folder which would hold images and other media files (e.g. PDFs). Those are likely taking up most of the space.
Does your tool have a profiling option that tells you the content that is being backed up?
After reading your tips and suggestions and after further research on my side, I found that I had a clone or two of the entire site from a year ago stored in the uploads folder after incorrectly using a cloning plugin.
After deleting those files, the total size of the database and files together is under 100MB as it should be.
We can close this ticket. Thanks, again.
Best regards to all at EE.
