I had an error in my recurring events where the registration date moved from the date of the event to the previous day (There is a similar post about event registration date moving backwards after daylight savings. Not sure if this is related, just mentioning it.)

Several of my upcoming events (several weeks worth) have information that is tied to performer information. I went out several weeks to find an event that wasn’t already tied to a performer, then adjusted the end date for registration to match the date of the performance, I selected “this event and all upcoming events in the series”, updated the event, and now I have all of my events after May 28 with event end date showing incorrectly. No matter how many times I change the end date and update, the incorrect date still appears.

Is there a limit to the amount of time that registration can occur?

Thanks for your help,

Ken

Hi Ken,

Is there a limit to the amount of time that registration can occur?

There should not be a limit.

Can you post an example of how the dates are setup so we can test this please?

Also how would you like the event registration to work? For example should an event open for registration 2 weeks prior to the event or just be open from when the event is created?

Event registration has to end on the date of the event (show), so that people don’t incorrectly buy for events that are expired. The event registration can begin as soon as the event is created.

If I try to change the event registration end date, for any event after May 28th, the changes won’t take effect.

Hi Ken,

Does a single event update to the correct date you set if select ‘Only This instance’? Are the dates automatic or manual?

Can you post an example of how REM is setup please? Both the dates and options selected.

Or if you prefer you could send temporary login details using https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ with a note to which event ID we can view this on.

Apologies for the multiple questions, just trying to narrow down the issue.

I haven’t tried updating a single event yet. I want the registration period for each event to be at least three months long, ending on the day of the event, at least an hour before the event.

I hope this helps.

Hi Ken,

I recommend creating a backup of the database, just to be sure you can revert if neededm we have a guide available here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

I logged in an looked at event number 987 which is on the 29th May.

Here’s how to fix the dates, your current date setup is as follows:

http://take.ms/v2mYl

If you copy the event start date, and first paste it within the event end date field (not strictly needed as the changes we are about to make with the Recurring Events Manager (REM) should also fix this)

Now your dates should be like this – http://take.ms/kSqPO

Scroll down to the REM settings, change which events our changes will apply to by setting the option ‘This and all upcoming events.’

http://take.ms/bHIiu

Then change the ‘Registration Ends On’ field & First Event/Last Event Date fields to match the current event dates

http://take.ms/28esw

If you then take a look at the projected events window, find the event in the list on the left and compare with the projected list you’ll see the event dates have been fixed.

http://take.ms/IYw17

Then just Update the event, which will update this event, and the future events due to us setting ‘This and all upcoming events.’ earlier.

Does that help?

Yes, that is exactly how it is SUPPOSED to work. But after you hit UPDATE, the dates change AGAIN.

Go look at event 987 again, and you’ll see the event registration end date is wrong again, and I did not edit it. It’s a programming error of some sort.

Hi Ken,

Previously I did not save the changes so that you could follow what to do to fix this.

I re-followed the steps posted above on Event 987 applying to ‘This and all upcoming events’ and the events now show the correct dates.

If you recheck the events now you’ll find the correct dates have been set.

This will only effect the remaining events within the series for the events ‘Thur. 08:00 pm:’, if you have other recurring events with the same issue these will need to have the same date fix applied to them.

Hope that helps.
