Wordpress Version: 3.6
Event Espresso: 3.1.35.1.P
Event Espresso – Recurring Events: Version 1.1.7.1

Im trying to to create a recurring event that has multiple time in a day. but it seems like recurring event doesn’t recur the event time of the day.
E.g.
Event Name
Oct 18 2013
– 1pm – 2pm
– 2pm – 3pm

when i recur the example event above. i only get the events below
Even name/Oct 18, 2013/2-3pm
Even name/Oct 19, 2013/2-3pm

What i want to achive is:
Even name/Oct 18, 2013/1-2pm
Even name/Oct 18, 2013/2-3pm

Even name/Oct 19, 2013/1-2pm
Even name/Oct 19, 2013/2-3pm

This is the result i got when im trying to recur an event

The Recurring Events Manager (REM for short) basically copies the event you create onto multiple dates.

So in the example above where 2 events are created:

Even name/Oct 18, 2013/2-3pm
Even name/Oct 19, 2013/2-3pm

Those events are actually copies of the original event including the start times. So those events would actually be:

Event name/Oct 18, 2013/ :- 1-2pm, 2-3pm
Event name/Oct 19, 2013/ :- 1-2pm, 2-3pm

As per the original event created in the screenshot.

Event Espresso 3.X uses event times as 1 event with multiple time slots. For example a class which repeat’s three times in one day would be one event with 3 time slots.

To check I’m advising you of the correct way to create these events I need to confirm if you want separate events for each time slot? (so each time slot has its own attendee list and are totally separate from each other)

Or single events with multiple time slots? (this is a single event with ONE attendee list to manage between all time slots)

Thanks for the reply.

what i want to happen is create 1 event with multiple time slot with 10 attendees for each time slot and recur the event. for example:

Event Name – oct 21, 2013 – 1pm -2pm – 10 attendee
Event Name – oct 21, 2013 – 2pm -3pm – 10 attendee

what’s happening to the system right now is when i create a multiple time slot. it only accepts 10 attendees in the whole day, which made no sense since the events will start and end to a specific time and start the event in the same day but in different time.

what will happen is when i create an event for a day with multiple time slot with the limit of 10 attendee, what if the 10 attendees signed in the first time slot i made. the event will be full and other time slot will not be filled.

the reason for this is i don’t need to create another set of recurring event just to create another event in the same with different time slot.

Currently the REM will only copy 1 event per date using the automatic date calculations. There are a few methods for creating these events.

1) You could manually add the dates you would like the events, although you will need to edit each event’s time as each event will will be a duplicate of the first. So for example, you created the event with the time slot 1pm – 2pm and manually added 2x oct 21, 2013 & 2 x oct 22, 2013 you would then need to edit one of the events for each of those dates to have the time 2pm – 3pm.

The above will soon mount up if the events have multiple dates.

2) There is an experimental feature included within Event Espresso to put registration limits on time slots. Under Event Espresso -> General Settings.

‘Use registration limits on time slots?’ Set this to Yes and update the settings.

This will allow each time limit to have a registration limit so in you example, each time slot would have a registration limit of 10. The total registration limit for the event needs to then be 20.

As this feature is experimental there are a few quirks we have found which are in the pipeline to be fixed but currently have no deadline. For example if you allow group registrations of say 5 within one registration, the limit is only adjusted by 1 (as technically it is one registration) this obviously is not an issue if you are not. You must also always set a limit number currently.

3) The way I would recommend is to create separate series of events (although identical other than time) one for each time slot. Is it the easiest to both setup and manage.

In the above example:

One series for ‘Event Name – oct 21, 2013 – 1pm -2pm’ to be recurred for as long as needed.

Another for ‘Event Name – oct 21, 2013 – 2pm -3pm’ to be recurred for as long as needed.

This then creates separate events and means you no longer need to edit the times. The only issue here is that if you extended the dates for recurring you would need to do it for both series although this will be less time consuming than the first option.
